Here's What We Were Working on in November 2021
Theme Modulation
Let’s think of the custom TourismTiger theme on your site as a set of Legos. There’s always the ability to add new Legos to the set to build it up and make new things, but over time as you add more Legos, the set can become heavy and tough to carry around. Our theme reached a size (with so many options for customization) where it was a stress on the server’s resources to load the backend of pages due to all the options it has to load. Back to our Lego analogy, let’s say you want to make it lighter, so you remove pieces. Now, we have modulated the theme so that if there is a feature not being used on the site we can turn it off or on! Long story short, backend speeds will be fast once we go through and modulate the theme. This update is automatic as we’ll be going through all sites, but if you have any questions about modulation please let us know.
Currency Converter
This add on allows us to convert currencies around the site in a variety of combinations! We can set it to convert to a specific price, or we can have it convert to a local currency based on location. As we are based in Chile, the CLP in the gif above is for Chilean pesos. Justified Gallery on Mobile
A justified gallery is when we place all the images on the page adjusted to their size to fit into a nice grid. Similar to how we can do justified galleries on desktop, we can now do them on mobile. By default, the justified galleries on desktop will show up as carousels, but if you’d like to justify the gallery as well on mobile, please contact us.
Mobile Gallery Size Adjustments
Before this, images added to galleries would show up quite small on mobile screens since we uploaded them mainly in landscape orientation and they would be squeezed to fit the width on mobile at the sacrifice of height. Now, on mobile the gallery images are set to fit via height, pushing the edges of the photo offscreen but bringing the center of the image into focus on a mobile screen. This is an automatic update, but if you would like us to revert the galleries to the images fit via width, please contact us.
Clock Widget
Similar to last month’s weather widget, this update allows us to portray various versions of a clock anywhere on your site. The widget can be customized to some extent, and we can change the widget’s appearance based on desktop or mobile viewing. If you would like this widget placed on your site, please contact us.
Sliding Banner up Top
Specially made for any sites that have the overlay logo that shifts upon scrolling, this allows us to get a banner on the site without turning off the overlay of the logo. The banner’s functionality is the same as the normal one that we can place below the menu. It is not possible to have a banner at top and then also below the menu – only one of the spots can be occupied. If you would like us to put up a banner at this spot on your site, please contact us.
