Automatic Pre Caching of All Pages
An update on the theme addition from last month. As a refresher, Caching is a vital component to make sure that people, and Google, see the site run fast. When changes are made to the site, the cache must be flushed in order to get the old, non-changed version off of the servers, and the updated version onto the servers. Normally once the cache is flushed, however, the next person or crawler to check the site will see an uncached version of the site which will be slow. Last month, we updated the caching so that we could pre-cache all pages with one click. This meant that we had servers re-crawl every page, and cache them, right after we purged the cache for any changes. Now, that process is automatic, so after purging the cache, we will have a server cache all pages on the site automatically once a day. Weather Widget
This addition is going to be great for operators that give tours that can be affected by weather, and will work even better for operators that receive shorter notice bookings. This widget allows us to show up to a 7 day forecast and there are quite a few levels of customization available including, colors, icons, shape, and labels. We can also have the widget show differently on desktop and mobile, but be on the same place on the page. For example, on desktop we can do a horizontal 7-day forecast widget, and then on mobile have it show up as a vertical 3-day forecast widget. If you have multiple locations on your site, no worries! Chekkit Chat Widget
Focusing on adding breadth to the options of chat widgets that work with our sites, this month we finished an add-on that allows us to place Chekkit’s chat widgets on the site without any affect to performance on the site. If you have an account with Chekkit, all you have to do is share the widget code snippet and then we can place it on the site!
